Rabbi Sonnenfeld meets with Lord Winston Churchill 1918

Immediately following the conquest of Jerusalem by the English General Allenby in 1918,Rabbi Yosef Chaim Zonnenfeld went to greet him at the gates of Jerusalem. When the British Mandate High Commissioner, Herbert Samuel, arrived in the city he was greeted by Rabbi Zonnenfeld and Rabbi Yitzchak Y. Diskin, together with Rabbi Reuven Shlomo Jungreis and Rabbi Dov Ber Epstein, who were the leading community representatives. (Mara De Ara Yisroel [Rabbi of the Holy Land], Part II, pp. 198-199).
