Rabbi Menashe Meyer, menahel of Nitra yeshiva

Rabbi Menashe Meyer, menahel of Nitra yeshiva, speaks in Yiddish. A rough translation of his remarks are below:

The wicked have only one objective, to stifle the voice of protest, that even one voice should not be heard. Otherwise, how can you understand it? They have everything. But the small, weak voice of Orthodox Jewry is to them a powerful voice, which they cannot bear to hear.

Today we recited the kinah, "Yours, Hashem, is the righteousness and ours is the shamefacedness." We can add: Hashem was right for giving us such a great rebbe, who taught us to protest against the Zionist wickedness, but ours is the shamefacedness for not doing it properly. Therefore we have come here today, Tisha B'av, a time of lamentation. This is a particularly suited time to come out and say, "Bring us back, Hashem," – we will now listen, we will go on the path that You have shown us.

Immodesty is a sin that causes G-d's presence to depart from us. The Jews in Beis Shemesh didn't want that to happen, so they put up a sign, similar to the signs that hang  in many places in Jerusalem. The wicked couldn't stand it. The mayor promised to hold talks and work for a peaceful solution. But on the same day he sent out the riot police, they took down the sign, and the Jews who protested were arrested. At the police station, one of the arrested Jews refused to answer any questions, even to give his name. He didn't want to give the Zionist authorities any recognition. The chief of police came and said, "I'll show you how to make him talk." And he began beating him over the head till blood ran out and he fell unconscious. Yes, that's democracy!

One of them was put in the worst prison, with no possibility of bail. The biggest crooks get let out on bail. What was his sin? Because he dared to say, "Eini makir! I do not recognize the Zionist state!" Well, let the leaders there know that those Jews are representing all of us, and we all yell out, "Eini makir! Eini makir! Eini makir!"

And now, when the Jewish people is in danger, and the Zionists have led them into a battle against the Master of the Universe, and also a terrible danger from the nations of the world, may G-d have mercy, it is especially important to show that the Zionists do not represent us.
